(GBR) Three Day Eventer
Matthew made his British senior squad debut as an individual at the 2005 European Championships at Blenheim, where he finished 13th with the home-bred coloured horse Park Pilot. He was second at Blenheim the year before on the same horse, with whom he also won a team silver medal at the young rider Europeans in 2002.
Matthew is a regular visitor to Ireland to compete, and among his successes he won the World Cup qualifier and the CCI** at Ballindenisk in 2006 (Park Pilot and Grove Joucas), the CCI** at Punchestown the same year (Singalong) and has done a one-two in the CCI** at Necarne twice (2007 If You Want II and L’Aristo Du Lado; 2008 Caunton Welldone and Hugginstown).
Matthew and If You Want II won the 2011 Express Eventing crown at the Horse of the Year Show, with a spectacular performance which had the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The Express Eventing win came at the end of a successful season for Matthew, who won at more than 25 one-day events, ridden to a win in the 2* three-day event at Ballindenisk with Fernhill Express, and secured the lion’s share of the £5,000 cottages4you accumulator bonus awarded for results at Belton, Hopetoun and Osberton.
The 2014 season opened with wins at Isleham & Oasby with Shannondale Shinawil, Great Witchingham International with Silken Scully, Burgham with Chelsey Mill and Silken Scully, Belton Park with Shannondale Shinawil and Baroque Du Vi , Burnham Market International with Mr Magic Marley and Keysoe with Little Man III, Chelsea Mills and Noisette des pres.
