(GBR) International Showjumper
Without doubt, Dan Neilson is one of Great Britain’s biggest talents and one of the very promising team of young riders in the UK at the moment.
Despite of not coming from a ‘horsey’ family, sheer determination and hard work saw this rider rise up the ranks. As a pony rider he won individual and team gold at the European Championships, and at the age of 16 decided to commit to the sport professionally.
Dan won his first senior International class in 2009 and finished the year in very impressive fashion winning two classes at the Porto CSI**** International show in December. 2009 also included numerous wins at home, including the Crofton Manor Grand Prix and victory at Royal Windsor.
In 2011 he closed off the competition year by winning the Olympia U23 Great British Championship.
In 2013 Dan was selected as part of the team for the 2013-2015 World Class Development Programme. Funded by UK Sport, the Development Programme works with talented riders to maximise their potential and deliver success on the international stage.
Based in Essex, at the top class equestrian yard, Aspen Stables, exciting horses under Dan’s care are Varo M, Coco Bongo, Zigali PS, Attack II, Murka’s Rupert R.
