Gerard Clarke wins the Horseware/TRM National Grand Prix League at Omagh Show on Friday.Round eleven of the Horseware/TRM National Grand Prix League took place at Omagh Show in Co. Tyrone  today, Friday 4th July, with a prize fund of €4,000.

McMahon – Gerard Clarke notched up his first win in this year’s Horseware/TRM National Grand Prix League with his own 10 year old Gelding by Ekstein, Horseware Ardragh Stein

It was a dreary start to the day with heavy drizzle all morning but that did not deter the 58 starters that  took on Paul Duffy’s track.  20  combinations made it through to the jump off.    2 riders  withdrew to leave 18 to battle it out for the top prize.

Daniel Coyle, Thomas O’Brien and Alexander all showed good form and claimed two placings each.  The Army equitation school was also well represented with Captain Michael Kelly  taking second place by the slimmest of margins and Lt. David Power placing 8th.  Kildare man Edward Doyle filled the other spot in the placings.

Charleville last weekend saw the half way mark of the League with Vincent Byrne and Mr Rockefeller still topping the leading rider and horse tables to date.

On Saturday attention turned to the Premier Grand Prix where 38 riders were entered to take on the competitive course. It was Monaghan man Clem McMahon on the 10 year old mare, Unesca that snatched the victory over Capt. Geoff Curran on the stallion Mullaghbane.

Round three of the Horseware/TRM Premier Grand Prix League took place at Omagh Show in Co. Tyrone , Saturday 5th July, with a prize fund of €10,000, supported by the Silver Birch Hotel and Powers Whiskey. The sun shone for the 38 starters that  took on Paul Duffy’s track.  12  combinations made it through to the jump off.

Unesca, a Danish bred mare owned by Debbie Curley Hilton sport Horses, is by Cassini II out of a Lancier mare.

CEO of TRM Raoul Masterson was on site to present the prize to Clem.

Omagh show comes to a close for another year, the two days saw a  jam-packed programme of events, a not to be missed  festival of fun, food and farming for all the family thanks to all the great work by Tyrone Farming Society. The series now moves to other end of the Country for Cork Summer Show on the 13th July.
